Gerd Rehse shows in his photographs human reactions in motion. They point to the temporary nature of human behaviour; transitory and changeable. The out-of-focus images do not draw a fleeting glance, but on the contrary, heighten our perception. In the words of Gerhard Richter, whose work revolves around the central theme of the blurred image: "The blurred (image) is ..... a means of expressing our relationship to reality. This relationship is, however, inevitably marked by its insecure, fleeting, detailed and, in point of fact, blurred nature."
