From where to where
A photographic time-space continuum
Kurt Paulus combines time sequences, condenses them to a single moment, and
thus creates the essence of time and space. With his sequences, he touches on the
question of the time-space continuum, the question of light and energy, and the
relativity of dimensions. The works of Kurt Paulus deal with instants in time and their
coincidence, bound to a sense of time and motion, creating more than just records of
empirical reality and opening the way to viewing motives in a new light: the
descriptions of his photos become descriptions of human existence.
Curriculum vitae
Born in 1956.
Through his father's profession as an art historian, Kurt Paulus was
introduced to art at an early age. He obtained a degree in design at a secondary
technical school, after which he undertook training in the area of photography. From
1997 to 1998, he was a guest lecturer for experimental photography at the Academy
of Visual Arts in Nuremberg. In 1980, he was awarded the Bavarian State Prize for
photography. Numerous presentations at national and international exhibitions, as
well as a large number of publications and successes in competitions are impressive
evidence of his expertise.
